During our Barre Fitness sessions the barre (just like a ballet barre) is used as a prop to help with balance and control while performing exercises which focus on isometric strength training. This means you hold your body still while you move and contract a specific set of muscles. Combining this with high reps of small range-of-motion movements means that certain muscles can be worked in isolation and smaller muscles are activated rather than letting the large muscle groups take over. Barre Fitness will definitely ‘bring the burn’, work the core and make you aware of muscles you didn’t know you even had. Sessions also may incorporate props such as stretch bands, soft balls, mats and light weights.
